D.A. Horton has honed his gifts in a dizzying array of ministries. You might know D.A. better as the Christian Hip Hop artist, Azriel. As an artist he released such albums as “Systematic Theology vol. 1″ and “G.O.S.P.E.L.” Later Horton became a pastor and church planter of Koinonia Bible Church in his hometown of Kansas City, MO. Most recently D.A. has been called to serve as the Executive Director for ReachLife ministries a non-profit ministry of Reach Records. D.A. has served as an Adjunct Professor at Calvary Theological Seminary and he has written two books: G.O.S.P.E.L. and DNA: Foundations of the Faith. You can find them on RAAN’s Book Shelf.
We sat down with D.A. Horton to get to know his heart for ministry and how the Lord has been working in his life. Watch part 1 of our interview with D.A. as he talks about his his experience as a pastor and advice about pastoring as well as his vision for ReachLife Ministries.
Experience as a Pastor
“My wife and I felt a burden to plant a conservative church just had the DNA of the urban poor but with sound biblical theology coming from the pulpit and resonating through the relationships.”
Advice about Pastoring
“If you feel you can do anything else outside of pastoring, do that. Really consider the biblical qualifications. Where is my life, am I truly a man of this high caliber character?”
Vision for ReachLife
“The parachurch is never meant to replace the church. Never. Never, never, never, never.”
“I’m convinced our culture, our context has basically created an unofficial third office of the church. We see in the Scriptures elders and deacons, but in our context you see Christian entertainers elevated up there as well.”
