What do you when your best friend gets shot in the head for gang-bangin’ right in front of your eyes? You repent and believe. We met Eddie Everette at the Verge ’13 Conference where he told us his testimony and we were blown away. Eddie grew up with an abusive father, went to court on felony charges at the age of 14 for burning down a church, learned how to cook up heroine, and saw one of his friends killed right before his eyes. And this is just the first half of the interview!
Marvel at the gracious providence of God by listening to part one of church planter, Eddie “Caine” Everette’s testimony.
Growing Up with an Abusive Father
“He [my dad] was mad abusive to my mom. Being like two years old, three years old [I remember] seeing my pops smash my mom’s head through windows.”
Catching a (Court) Case for Burning Down a Church
“[The judge says], ‘Instead of giving him 10-20 years in jail, we’re going to give him six months of probation’”
Seeing His Friend Get Shot in the Head
“Soon as I get half a block away I hear, “POP-POP-POP-POP-POP” They shot him in the back of the head, and I’m the only one out there.”
“I should have been the one in front of that bullet. I deserved it. There’s nothing that made me any different from him except that I was a wretched human being and God pulled me out.”
